THBD has a strong foundation as a public entity catalyzing Temple’s health industry for over 20 years. Our organization is led by seven elected board members serving staggered three-year terms.The THBD Board of Directors brings together experienced leaders from diverse industries, including biotechnology, banking, law, real estate, and education.
Michael Norman
Chairman
Director and General Counsel, LivFul, Inc.
Michael Norman is an entrepreneur, investor, and attorney who has co-founded multiple companies. Currently, he leads LivFul as CEO and Chairman of its board and serves on the Temple Economic Development Corporation board. As a former CEO of GBDbio, he has experience obtaining support from major global charitable funders and NGOs, as well as institutional, social impact, and individual investors. As a corporate attorney, he executed capital fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, and counseled clients on corporate and board governance matters. Michael holds a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and a B.A. in international studies from Austin College.
Gregg Strasburger
Vice Chairman
CEO, GSI
Gregg Strasburger has over 50 years of business leadership experience and currently serves as CEO of GSI, where he’s led the organization for over 34 years. Prior to joining GSI, he spent 12 years as CEO of Texas Industrial Remcor and oversaw farm and ranching operations, travel agency and a bank holding company as President of Ancillary Businesses for Strasburger Enterprises, Inc.—a family-owned retail business with deep roots in Temple. A Baylor University alum, he holds a BBA with dual majors in marketing and management from the Hankamer School of Business.
Tyler Johnson
Treasurer/Secretary, THBD Board of Directors
Market President, Alliance Bank Central Texas
Tyler Johnson is a skilled banking professional with 20 years of experience. He began his career in Dallas, focusing on commercial loan origination and mortgage trading for Goldman Sachs. In 2012, he relocated to Temple, where he served as a Commercial Relationship Manager and City President for Alliance Bank Central Texas before taking on the role of Market President in 2021. He also serves on the boards of Temple Business League, City of Temple Reinvestment Zone #1, Temple Economic Development Corporation, and Temple Industrial Foundation. Johnson holds his B.B.A. in finance and management from Texas A&M University.
Thomas Baird
Founding Member & Shareholder, Baird, Crews, Schiller & Whitaker, P.C.
As a founding member of Baird, Crews, Schiller & Whitaker, P.C., Thomas Baird leads the firm’s estate planning, business entities, family business succession planning, and real estate practices. Baird has been recognized as one of the nation’s top lawyers in the areas of trusts and estates, as well as real estate law. He’s a long-time community leader that has served on the boards of several banks, manufacturing companies, other businesses, and charitable entities, including Temple Business League and Temple Economic Development Corporation. Baird earned his law degree from the University of Texas and a B.A. from Texas Tech University.
John Kiella
Owner and CEO, Kiella Real Estate Group
John Kiella built Kiella Real Estate Group from the ground up, having initially founded Kiella Homebuilders in 1987 with his wife Suzanne. Kiella Real Estate Group specializes in land investments, development, and commercial and residential projects supporting Temple’s growth and downtown revitalization. Kiella is Project Chairman of the Temple Reinvestment Zone Board, and has served as President of the Temple Area Builders Association and the Temple Business League. He has been an active member of several other organizations important to Bell County’s growth, including the Temple Chamber of Commerce and Temple Economic Development Corporation. Kiella holds a B.A. in economics from Central Michigan University.
Jason Locklin, Ph.D.
Dean of Natural Sciences, Temple College
Dr. Jason Locklin has over 20 years of collegiate teaching and mentorship experience, serving as Dean of Natural Sciences and Professor of Biology at Temple College, as well as Co-Founder of the Temple College Biological Research Institute. He also has publication experience as the Managing Editor of the Texas Journal of Science, the research journal of the Texas Academy of Science. Locklin received his A.A. in biology from Temple College, a B.S. and an M.S. in aquatic biology from Texas State University, and a Ph.D. in biology from Baylor University.
Brian Reinhardt
Corporate EVP – Chief Banking Officer, Extraco Banks
Brian Reinhardt has dedicated over 20 years to Extraco Banks, where he started as an intern while still in college before climbing the ranks and serving in several executive positions. In addition to being a THBD board member, Reinhardt also actively serves the Temple community as a member of the Rotary Club, coach of various youth sports teams, and volunteer at his children's schools. Reinhardt is a graduate of the prestigious Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and he also holds a BBA in finance and an MBA from Baylor University.
