Pitts Sworn into THBD Board

Pitts begins his first term; Kiella and Baird also sworn in.

At the beginning of its meeting on Wednesday, May 21, the Temple Health & Bioscience District (THBD) board administered the oath of office to Blake Pitts. Yesterday marked the beginning of Pitts’s first term with the THBD. Current members John Kiella and Thomas Baird each took the oath for additional terms of office.

“We are really excited to have Blake join the board,” THBD Chair Michael Norman said. “He has decades of experience managing construction projects in Temple, and that perspective can only help us.”

Pitts is filling the seat previously held by Gregg Strasburger, who declined to seek re-election.

“Gregg has been a huge asset to the district,” Norman said. “He has served the THBD diligently for many years, most recently as our vice chair.”

Pitts graduated at the top of his class in the School of Architecture at Texas A&M University, where he received a degree in Construction Science. Shortly after graduation, he joined the team at Matous Construction. Today, he holds the title of President and serves as Project Manager on Matous’s larger construction projects.
